Dr. Emery Dosdall, President

Dr. Emery Dosdall was the former Deputy Minster for Education for the Province of BC and served as the Deputy Minister in the Office of the BC Trade Commissioner prior to joining BCCIE as President. 

Dr. Randall Martin, Executive Director

Dr. Randall Martin, Executive Director of the BCCIE, has experience spanning more than twenty years in post-secondary education, development education and international education, including more than 15 years supporting the internationalization efforts of Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Vancouver. He began his professional career teaching in the college sector, moved to a university development project in Eastern and Central Indonesia, after which he returned to Canada mandated to design and implement international student programming for SFU, where he spent much of the last twenty years. For the past two years Dr. Martin has been Executive Director of the BC Council for International Education.

Mr. Trevor Corkum, Director

Trevor Corkum is BCCIE’s Director and is responsible for leading office operations, supervising the communications and marketing teams and planning and coordinating BCCIE’s professional development initiatives. He has travelled for work or pleasure to over sixty countries and is keenly interested in imagining and planning for the next wave of global education. A graduate of Lester B. Pearson College, Follo Folkehogskole (Norway) and Simon Fraser University, and a current UBC graduate student, Trevor has worked in the field of international education in the ESL, K-12, and post-secondary sectors at institutions and school districts across Canada and is former Chair of the Canadian Higher Education Committee (CHEC).

Ms. Ruth Erskine, Office Manager

Ruth has many years of Office Management and Senior Administrative experience in both public and private sectors.  She has most recently worked for a prestigious international firm of architects and has a wide range of experience with large corporations as well as government agencies. Ruth’s responsibilities include ongoing liaison with Executive and Board Members, stakeholders, suppliers and the public; scheduling and events management; and general office administration, human resources, facilities and general accounting.

Ms. Sandra Partridge, Manager, Education Quality Assurance

Sandra Partridge manages all aspects of the administration and promotion of the EQA Designation for private and public post-secondary education in BC. She has over 11 years of experience working in the BC post-secondary education system in the development, management and promotion of international programs and programming frameworks. Sandra has always been an advocate of lifelong learning and has a BA and French Language Diploma from the University of Victoria and is currently enrolled in a technical design program at BCIT. Her deep interest in and respect for all cultures has inspired her extensive travel to Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe and serves as the foundation for her commitment to the promotion of international education and internationalization.

Ms. Sarah Mines, Manager, Marketing and Events

Sarah Mines manages the marketing and events for BCCIE. She has over 12 years of experience working in marketing and sales and has spent the last five year involved in the promotion of Canada as a study destination. Sarah has always had a passion for learning about other cultures. This energy has inspired her to travel the globe and these experiences continuously teach her about herself, human cultures and histories, and the natural beauties of our world. As a social advocate, Sarah has volunteered for a number of organizations in her community and believes strongly in advocacy and education for change.

Ms. Christina Wu, Communications Coordinator

Christina Wu brings her past experience in non-profit communications to her current role at BCCIE. She coordinates a variety of communication initiatives to inform and engage with BCCIE’s various stakeholder groups, in addition to working closely with the marketing team. She has a curiousity for learning about different cultures and has travelled extensively. Christina has a joint major in Business and Communication (BBA) from Simon Fraser University. Outside of work she enjoys volunteering her communication skills with the local non-profit, Global Agents for Change.

Mr. Gustavo Espinola, Coordinator, Marketing & Research

Gustavo has always worked in an international environment, often with colleagues and markets in the Americas and Europe, and recently had the privilege to experience the Asian market as well. In addition to living in different Canadian cities, Gustavo had the great chance to live in Argentina and France. His university studies include a Master’s degree in Intercultural Relations from Université de Lille 3 in France and a BA in French studies (with a Political Sciences component) from Laval University in Canada. He has a great passion for meeting people from around the world, learning different languages (currently trying to improve his Dutch), and most of all travelling to places where he feels like a local!

Ms. Sacha Atkinson, Education Quality Assurance Assistant

Sacha Atkinson is the Assistant for the Education Quality Assurance (EQA) initiative.  She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Victoria. Sacha has travelled extensively across the globe and lived in Japan teaching English as a Second Language to high school students.  She has worked in government, private and non-profit sectors and most recently was employed by the Ministry of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development with the provincial government of BC.  In her spare time Sacha teaches swimming and enjoys cooking and gardening.

Mr. Tony Kwan, Communications Assistant 

Tony Kwan works on web development and graphic design for BCCIE, and provides technical support for its contacts management system. He has worked on a variety of animation and web development projects, for clients such as Simon Fraser University (SFU) and the New city Group. He is a graduate from SFU's School of Interactive Arts and Technology and has furthered his learning through training courses at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.    

Ms. Katy Yen, Co-op Marketing Assistant

Katy supports the marketing initiatives on the Team BC China Missions by researching and organizing relevant reports and profiles, and providing Chinese translation where necessary. She also assists with event planning for Team BC Missions. Katy grew up in Taiwan speaking Mandarin and developed an interest in Chinese history and literature.  She has travelled to Thailand, Japan and several Western European countries, and looks forward to more opportunities to further explore the world. She is a Simon Fraser University Business Student, concentrating in Management & Organization Studies and International Business.

Ms. Robin Garcha, Co-op Marketing Assistant

Robin works closely with the Marketing team and provides ongoing support to the Communication team. Robin is currently pursuing a joint major in Business and Communication with a concentration in Marketing at Simon Fraser University (SFU).  Robin’s passion for travel began when she embarked on an exchange to Europe. She has been fortunate enough to have traveled to many great countries including India, Cuba, and planning in the near future a trip to Costa Rica. Although being born in Canada, Robin’s native language is Punjabi. In her spare time, Robin likes to involve herself with student-based clubs at SFU.
