Past Award Winners

The BCCIE International Education Awards Program recognizes the professionalism, dedication and efforts of an exemplary group of experts and practitioners in the diverse field of international education in British Columbia.

Past winners represent the broad range of leaders and practitioners from all parts of the sector and showcase the best and brightest in our province. BCCIE International Education Awards are decided by a peer committee and were awarded in the following categories:

International Education Distinguished Leadership Award

2011 - Dawn Sutherland
2010 - Rod Matheson of West Vancouver School District and Tony Macoun of Mulgrave School 

This award recognizes the unique and important accomplishments and contributions of an international educator or member of the community who has effected change and leadership in the field of international education and whose work will have a lasting impact.

International Education Distinguished Service Award

2011 - Vera Wojna
2010 - Katherine Beaumont of the University of British Columbia

This award recognizes the unique and important accomplishments and contributions of an international educator or member of the community who has ‘led from behind’, who through determined years of service has supported the students, activities and community of the field of international education.

Innovation in International Marketing Award

2011 - Cyndi McLeod of Royal Roads University
2010 - Rosanne Ng of Capilano University 

This award recognizes innovation and success in support of the education export sector in British Columbia and in the marketing of our world-class education system.

Outstanding Program in International Education Award

2011 -TRU International Days (Thompson Rivers University)

This award recognizies an institution, district or program with high quality and highly creative programming in international education.

Rising Star in International Education Award

2011 - Andrea Reynolds of Kwantlen Polytechnic University
2010 - Rebecca Rytir of Simon Fraser University 

This award recognizes tomorrow’s leaders, our up-and-coming talent, and the next generation of leaders and practitioners in the field of international education.

Friends of BCCIE Award

2010 - Donna Hooker of Vancouver Community College 

This is a special award recognizing extraordinary contributions to the sector and to advancing the goals, mission and vision of international education in BC.
