Types of Events We Offer
Marketing and Recruitment Activities
BCCIE marketing staff organize and participate in a number of marketing events annually in support of promoting British Columbia (BC) as an education destination. In addition to Team BC missions, staff may represent the international education sector at international education fairs, conferences, government and NGO forums, and other provincial, national and international events. The marketing team also organizes a number of marketing events locally, such as pre-departure or country orientations to key markets, international student welcome events, and other events designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and networks of international education marketing professionals in BC.
- Team BC Missions
BCCIE organizes a number of large scale international education missions to select markets each year on behalf of BC’s international education sector, which are part of BCCIE’s overall Marketing and Recruitment Activities. Typically Team BC Missions visit a number of cities in each market and may be anchored by student education fairs. In addition to fairs, missions may include agent workshops, agent training, school visits, parent or student receptions, country briefings by Canadian consular officials, meetings with local government and other key influencers, and additional networking events. Professional Development Events
BCCIE organizes a number of professional development events, both in Vancouver and around the province, designed to develop best practise approaches to international education skills development. Most professional development events will focus on the needs of a particular professional stream (international student services, marketing, leadership, etc) or stakeholder community (PSE, K-12, Language, etc) and follow a peer-to-peer model of knowledge sharing and case studies. Registration is open to all international education practitioners in the province. Find out more.
Roundtables
In order to engage and create dialogue within each stakeholder community, BCCIE organizes a number of roundtables each year. BCCIE Roundtables bring together colleagues from across the province for focused, open dialogue around international education trends, events, and issues of the day.
Webinars
BCCIE has begun to roll out its new webinar series, designed to discuss and share issues of common interest for international educators around the province. As a complement to our ongoing professional development series, the BCCIE Webinar Series will allow colleagues from outside the Lower Mainland, particularly those in northern and rural BC areas, to better access international education professional development resources.
International Education Speakers’ Series
These events are a type of Professional Development event, which help raise the profile and importance of international education in our local communities. BCCIE partners with local communities to offer the opportunity for broader community dialogue with leading international education or global thinkers and practitioners. Speakers comes from a range of backgrounds but share a passion for and a belief in the value of international education.
Summer Seminar
The BCCIE Summer Seminar is our flagship professional development event and is Western Canada’s leading international education conference. Held in late June each year, the BCCIE Summer Seminar brings together over 250 international educators from across Canada for lively and wide-ranging discussion around a number of key topics from the field. The BCCIE Summer Seminar also serves as the backdrop for the BCCIE International Education Awards. Find out more.
