BCCIE Professional Development Series
BCCIE recognizes the critical value of keeping abreast of international trends, building best practise approaches, and encouraging skills acquisition across the sector at the practitioner level. As such, professional development events will remain free of charge to international education professionals working for British Columbia institutions. In planning the 2009/10 Professional Development and Sector Roundtables Series, we have considered your valualbe feedback from the September 2009 Stakeholder Engagement Survey.
Sector Roundtables are an important chance for practitioners to engage in dialogue with BCCIE staff and to share critical institutional updates and issues of concern affecting the industry.
Professional Development Events are an opportunity for practitioners to stay informed about the current trends and relevant issues facing the international education sector. Each session focuses on a different special topic and presentations are conducted by various representatives from the sector.
Summer Seminar is BCCIE’s annual conference that brings international education professionals from BC and Canada together to engage in dialogue around key topics within the sector.
A few highlights to note in this year’s series:
- Events were selected with your input, to appeal to a range of professional streams across the sector
- BCCIE will host one event on Vancouver Island and will rotate future events to provide more accessible venues for those outside the Lower Mainland
- No events are scheduled between early January and early April as this is the Olympic and post-Olympic period
- Sector Roundtables are scheduled in concert with Professional Development Events for ease of scheduling and planning
