BCCIE Sumer Seminar 2010

Summer Seminar News

Join colleagues from around the country for BCCIE’s second annual Summer Seminar to be held in beautiful Whistler, British Columbia, June 22-25, 2010.

The theme of this year’s conference, Charting The Path Ahead, captures the industry at an exciting crossroads both here in British Columbia (BC) and across Canada. With recent dialogue around the next stage of Canada’s international education strategy, BC’s time in the spotlight as host of the 2010 Winter and Paralympic Games, and the renewed spirit of collaboration across the sector, there’s a sense of momentum as we plan for the next wave of strategy and sustainable practice to make our institutions and our province leaders in the field.

This year’s Seminar will be based at the Whistler Conference Centre, with host hotel the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa. Giving the keynote address, Tod Maffin, a leading international authority on the “Facebook Generation”, will share his insight into how international educators can engage and service this audience in a rapidly changing, and increasingly connected world. The expanded Seminar program includes several optional pre-conference workshops, 24 concurrent sessions, updates from national government and education organizations, focused networking opportunities, the development of a BCCIE Leadership Council, and the launch of BCCIE’s annual awards program to recognize distinguished contribution to the field of international education in BC. We anticipate this year’s Seminar will attract upwards of 250 delegates from all sectors and professional streams: international marketing and recruitment, international student services, mobility, leadership, languages, teaching, and administration.
