Insider’s View of Kelowna: Susan Allan
The local planning committee members will share their tips for things to see and do in the Kelowna and Okanagan region over the coming months. This month, Susan Allan from University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus offers her recommendations for some delicious food and family-friendly activities to enjoy.
1. Tell us about your favourite place to eat in Kelowna.
My favourite place to eat right now is RauDZ on Water Street in the downtown core. They have amazing food and a lot of variety. I am partial to the wild boar ravioli and Dead Frog beer. They have many great menu items and drinks that you may have never heard of, and will need to try. It is a must while in Kelowna!
2. What is your top family-friendly activity to do while in the Okanagan region?
My top activity would be skiing (downhill or cross country) at Silver Star in Vernon. It is a great family oriented mountain about an hour north of Kelowna. Although seeing as it will be summer, going to the Lake Okanagan or Kalamalka for a swim or hike in one of the provincial parks is a wonderful activity. You will enjoy all the stunning views!
3. As a local, where would we find you on a summer day?
I am either at the lake, bike riding or hiking in the park.
