Team BC Vietnam 2010
October 24 - 30, 2010
BCCIE is pleased to announce that we will be supporting British Columbia (BC) institutions attending the upcoming Canadian Embassy-sponsored Canada Education Week in Vietnam, October 24 to 30, 2010. This Mission will build upon the success of our January 2010 Study in BC Mission to Vietnam.
In January, institutions participated in the first Team BC Vietnam Mission. The delegation was comprised of 12 independent and public school districts and 9 post-secondary institutions who participated in events in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. During the Mission, the delegation visited with a total of 14 Vietnamese institutions and approximately 1500 local students. In addition, we met with over 900 students at the two fairs and engaged with over 150 key stakeholders in the market. In support of BCs post secondary institutions, BCCIE signed two Memorandums of Understanding with Ministry of Education and Training (Project 322) and Can Tho University (Mekong 1000). These MOUs govern a sector-wide approach to directing applications for fully-funded post-secondary students into the province. Due to the tremendously positive market response from stakeholders in Vietnam and within BC to this initial mission, BCCIE has an ongoing commitment to support BC institutions in Vietnam.
Canada Education Week will consist of a series of events and activities taking place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City including: two education fairs; two agent matchmaking events; two networking receptions hosted by Canada's Ambassador to Vietnam and Canada's Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City; briefings by Trade Commissioners and the Immigration Manager; parent seminars; and visits to select local high schools to present directly to students and conduct mini-fairs.
Opportunities for post-secondary are magnified by scholarship and partnership programs as well as sector-specific training. In partnership with the Embassy, BCCIE will be providing an avenue for discussion and possible promotion of these activities. More details about BC activities will be forthcoming.
