BC's Brand for Quality Education
The British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE) is proud to be a part of Canada’s first and only provincial seal of quality for post-secondary education – the Education Quality Assurance (EQA) program.
EQA is a Government of British Columbia brand for quality for private and public post-secondary education in British Columbia, and will be administered on Government’s behalf by BCCIE. The Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development sets all EQA policies, including eligibility requirements for EQA.
What is the EQA?
EQA is a quality assurance designation that identifies and promotes public and private post-secondary institutions that have met or exceeded government recognized quality assurance standards and consumer protection mechanisms. It is a voluntary designation available to BC public and private post-secondary institutions.
British Columbia’s post-secondary system is diverse, and there are various types of quality assurance processes for the different types of institutions. EQA creates one standard logo that can be recognized globally as symbol of quality and will reduce confusion for students by enabling them to readily see which provincial institutions the government of BC recognizes as having met quality assurance standards.
The role of BCCIE is to administer the EQA program in accordance with Ministry policy, and to manage and promote the EQA brand to international learners around the world.
