BCCIE TO FOCUS ON CORE
OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Vancouver, BC – January 27, 2012
As BCCIE’s transition continues in support of its renewed mandate, we remain firmly committed to supporting and growing core operational activities. The new BCCIE Board met for the first time last week, and will work with all BCCIE staff in the coming months to develop an operational plan and a longer term strategy that support the mandate of the organization and the International Education strategy of the provincial government. Our new Board Chair, Jim Hamilton, President of Okanagan College, and all Board members look forward to continuing dialogue with stakeholders and partners through the planning process.
As part of the focus on core operational activities, BCCIE will continue to administer the provincial Education Quality Assurance designation on behalf of the provincial government. We will increase our efforts to raise awareness of the value of the designation, and work to market and communicate the designation to national and international partners.
Planning for BCCIE’s flagship conference, the BCCIE Summer Seminar, continues at a full pace. Summer Seminar is Western Canada’s leading international education conference and will bring together over 300 international educators from across Canada to Kelowna for three days of networking, training, and professional development in late June, under the conference theme Global Pursuits, Local Endeavours. BCCIE is proudly partnering with CBIE, IETP, and other national organizations to bring you the best Seminar experience yet.
BCCIE will continue to support provincial government delegations to priority education markets, to organize the British Columbia presence at major signature international events, to manage the new Study in BC website, and to undertake a series of professional development events, webinars, and both research and service initiatives on behalf of the sector. We will further continue to coordinate robust communication and news services to all stakeholder communities as well as provide mission, event and market support. We look forward to sharing more information about upcoming activities in the weeks and months ahead.
